How many of you are actual law enforcement professionals, former, retired, here for rehabilitation or whatever. No disrespect t'anybody who's workin' outside the law for justice. Lord knows I earned my stripes on a wing and a prayer but...

He'd left this, the idea of law and order behind but oh god he needs normalacy, he needs people that aren't blue with giant heads that think he's an animal. Ever seen the Matrix where Neo realizes just how screwed he is and he throws up? Shane is close to that.]

Secret du roi, literally 'King's secret.' Some would have said spies, I suppose but it was more than that.

So not law enforcement, though domestically there was a little bit of trying to find lawbreakers, investigating and sometimes getting a warrant. My brother did more of that than I did. Louis XV, who is in God's grace, usually preferred sending me out of the country.

Yes, perhaps. But it may have been something specific within . . . all of it.

I haven't spoken in any detail, because I don't want to cause anyone to prejudge me without even the Admiral's evidence. So I don't speak of it, and I don't presume too much to know the Admiral's mind. Sometimes I wonder if he has one, one that a mere human can understand, I mean.
